This food tour of India with a chef covers Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Jodhpur in 8 days. The highlight of this tour will be Indian food and Indian cooking. Tourists who are seeking a detailed introduction to Indian cuisine will find this tour fascinating. Along with the must see sights it also covers best of north and western Indian cuisine. Food tour, kitchen tours, cooking classes, visits to restaurants, etc. are conducted with a great attention to detail by a qualified chef.

DAY 1: Delhi Food tour

We will begin this trip by a visit to the well-known landmarks of Delhi. We will see the Lotus Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. Delhi tourTemple, and the Qutub Minar, which is a 72 m tower, built in 1193. It is still as tall and beautiful. We also visit, Lotus Temple, a lovely Bahai house of worship which was built in 1986. After this, we will go to Old Delhi to begin the food tour, which will help you understand the rest of the journey. You will get to sample about 15-18 varieties of different types of food, by visiting 10 different food stalls. During the food tour, we’ll visit  Old Delhi, Central and South Delhi. The food joints we will visit are in business for many many generations and serving great quality food. We have a joint 110 years old, and one which is 40 years old. You will love the Indian delicacies such as samosa, Lassi, butter chicken, kulfi (Indian ice creams) and lovely kebabs. You will also sample some more food varieties. In Old Delhi, you will move through old lanes, which are narrow and have a medieval touch. You will also  see some old mansions, markets which are centuries old , with thousands of people walking there. Each lane is different with various commodities like spices, old mansions, bicycles, cameras, utensils, clothes and much more. We will also visit the Spice market. We, then visit a peaceful Sikh temple with a unique feature. This temple has a kitchen which feeds more than 10000 people on a daily basis.

DAY 2: Cook away

Today we spend the day cooking some of the dishes that we sampled yesterday. You will also be taught to prepare some basic Indian meals. . The class begins by making some hot masala chai and pakodas. While you have them, the chef introduces you to the basics of Indian cooking and also explains about some basic requirements. The Indian meals include pulao, daal and raita. Rotis, parathas and some tasty vegetables. So you can now wear your aprons and cook away. You will also be making some halva, which is an Indian dessert. Some of the non-vegetarian variants you will learn are the chicken tikka, butter chicken and mutton curry.. We will end the cooking class by having a hearty meal of all that we have cooked. And then a small spice hamper is given to you, which includes some basic north Indian spices. After this class is over, we visit the India Gate, the Rajpath and the President’s house in New Delhi. This is very pretty after dusk.

DAY 3: Taj Mahal

We wake up early in the morning and after a 3 hour drive, we reach Agra. We leave our luggage  Taj Mahal, Agra Jaipur Delhi tourat the hotel there and then visit the Taj Mahal, which is one of the wonder of the world. Most people think that it is much better in reality than in the pictures. We enjoy our time there synching in the various sights of the majestic place. There are thousands of mind blowing details to see that most people miss out on. We can then walk in the gardens and enjoy the water play of the fountains. Sit on the marble bench and have some pictures clicked on the same place like the celebrities have done. Now we head towards the Agra fort made of red sandstone and learn about some of its interesting history. Walking through the various parts of the fort we notice the wonderful view of the Agra town from the top as well as the Taj Mahal.

DAY 4: Jaipur- the Pink City introduction to spices

We wakeup early in the morning and commence our drive to the pink city of Jaipur in India. We check in at the hotel and then go to visit the famous Hawa Mahal (Palace of Wind). A 5 story tall monument made up of pink and red sandstones, the Hawa Mahal boasts of 953 small windows (jharokhas) and very intricate lattice work. Now is the time to do something different as we play with some elephants. Before that you are served a traditional Rajasthani thali for lunch. After enjoying your meal, we spend some time feeding the elephants. You can also ride them and play with them. The elephants are highly trained and very gentle. We then commence our ride into the jungle on an elephant. In the jungle we have a bon fire at night with some delightful Rajasthani folk dance and the demonstration of handicrafts.

OPTIONAL DAY 4: Tour of Jaipur Sights

This is an optional variant of the Jaipur sight seeing. Waking up early we start the day driving towards Jaipur which is known as the Pink City of India. We go to the hotel and after some refreshment and rest we will visit the Hawa Mahal. It is 5 storey stall and made of red and pink sandstones. 953 window or jharokhas intricately adorned with lattice work make this monument a unique structure. Then we visit the astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Jaisingh in the 18th century. After that we visit the Jaipur City Palace a part of which is a royal residence and the other part has been converted into a museum for the tourists. Next on the cards is the visit to the Jal Mahal, a beautiful structure on an island in the Man Sagar Lake.

DAY5: Food tour – Jaipur

This is the time to know this Pink City of Jaipur in a different view as you learn about its unique cuisine and visit the colorful markets. We start with a light breakfast and go to visit the food tour of india in jaipurwonderfully walled Jaipur city. You will be welcomed with some salty lassi. As you walk through the streets and markets, you will be able to sample a wide variety of delicious foods. This food tour will help you sample delicacies like the kachori and chai, slowly prepared over charcoal fire. There will also be an opportunity to sample some of the famous Rajasthani sweets and snacks. You will be treated with a large Rajasthani thali for dinner. We will also cover sight seeing such as the Galta Jee Temple, the Amer Fort and some others. The markets are worth visiting with their colorful display of numerous things like jewellery, bangles, shoes, utensils, spices, etc.

Day 6: From Jaipur to Osian

We go to Oian from Jaipur. We wake up early in the morning and drive to Osain. In between we go to the Sambahar Lake, which is th larget salt water inland Lake in India. The area of this lake varies between 190 to 230 sq km. It supplies 9 percent of the alt production of India. Many migratory birds make this lake their home, as winter comes. We can also do some salt making workshops here and observe the process close enough. We later start our ride to reach Osian , and reach the camp site in Osian by evening. After some rest and relaxation, we walk a while in the desert, enjoying the lovely view and the sunset. Before we have a dinner from the Rajasthani village, near the camp fire, we enjoy some activities in the evening. At night, some local dancers, entertain us with traditional Dance.

DAY 7: Adventure in the Desert

This 7th day will begin with a morning camel safari of the Thar desert. The ride is quite enjoyable with ever shifting sand dunes and we alo some some elusive wild animals. A viit to the tribal village is next. Here you get a chance to spend ome time with the villagers and understanding the ways of their life, by dressing up like them, spending time in their kitchens, and also with their animals. A jeep safari can also be arranged. We then take a drive to Jodhpur city, and visit the Mehrangarh Fort. This fort is located 122 m above the city. There are many attractions here like the Sheesha Mahal, Moti Mahla, Fool Mahal and Takh Vilas, each of it is a major attraction. In the evening, we have and interactive cooking demonstration, where you will learn some tricks of the trade, and some secrets of the traditional Indian cooking, some Rajathani sweets and other dishes. DAY 8:  Journey back home

On the last day of our visit, we’ll drive to tranquil Kaylana Lake and share our experiences of the journey over hot cup of tea or coffee. After the tea party, we’ll leave for Delhi via air or road.

Optional Day 8: Jodhpur tour

Today we go to see the Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, which I an exceptional way on reclaiming waste land. This place was overrun by a plant secies called bavalia Prosopis juliflora)  from Central America., until 2006. Years of hard work brought this land back, and now it has more Introduction to spicesthan 100 species of native flora. Next on the card is a visit to Jaswant Thada. This is an architectural marvel, and it is carved from marble sheets. The sheets being thin and polished shine in the sun. After that we visit Mandore, the ancient capital of the Parihar Rajput dynasty. You will visit the Mandore fort, and the Mandore gardens. We also visit an ancient temple which was built in the 13 to 15th century and still stands the test of time.,

Optional Day 8 or Day 9 : To Udaipur and Ranakpur

Early morning we wake up and drive towards Udaipur. In between we stop at the famous jain temple of Ranakpur constructed between 14th and 15th century. These temples have a characteristic architectural style and one temple contains 1444 marble pillars. These pillars are also carved in exceptional details. Later we reach to Udaipur in the evening and then we prepare ourselves for another cooking session with chef as we learn to cook many more Rajasthani dishes and have them for dinner later on.

Optional Day 8 or Day 9 : Udaipur – Ranakpur – Kumbhalgarh

Early morning we wake up and drive towards Udaipur. In between we stop at the famous jain temple of Ranakpur constructed between 14th and 15th century. These temples have a characteristic architectural style and one temple contains 1444 marble pillars. After enjoying the view and feel of the temples, we visit the Kumbalgarh fort with its 15 feet thick walls, which extend for 38 km. The wall is the second largest in Asia and has wonderfully withstood the test of time. There are 360 temples in this area. We, then reach Udaipur at night.

Optional DAY 9 or 10: Udaipur Sights

This day begins with a visit to the city palace museum to admire its great collection of medieval and historical artifacts in the palace. The palace is also built beautifully over 400 years ago and is a mix of various architectural sights. There is another temple near by known as Jagdish Temple which is also very popular. From here we go to the Fateh Sagar Lake built in 1651 on a picturesque location in between the Aravalli Hills. We can opt to do some boating here and also view the island in between to watch the sunset.

Last Day: To Delhi

The last day is kept free to accomodate the flight, train or road trip back to Delhi.

PHOTOGRAPHY: A specialist photography guide is available for New Delhi and can be added in Agra, Jaipur and other cities on request. The photography guide will take pictures of guests, sights, food etc. and will also help them use their own cameras better.
